More on THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER (2023):

"The Last Voyage of the Demeter" is a gripping horror film that takes viewers on a thrilling and claustrophobic journey aboard the ill-fated cargo ship Demeter in the year 1888. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Fincher, this adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel takes a fresh perspective on the iconic Dracula mythos. The story unfolds as the Demeter embarks on its final voyage from Varna, Romania, to Whitby, England, carrying an unknown shipment in its dark and eerie hold.

The film masterfully builds tension as a series of unexplained events plague the ship and its crew, hinting at the presence of an evil force on board. Mysterious deaths, disappearances, and supernatural occurrences escalate, leaving the crew terrified and questioning their sanity. As the journey progresses, suspicion grows, with each crew member becoming a potential suspect. The intense atmosphere breathes life into the 19th-century setting, with stunning cinematography that captures the gloomy and oppressive ambiance of the ship.

"The Last Voyage of the Demeter" is a haunting and visceral exploration of fear, isolation, and the ultimate consequences of encountering the ageless terror that is Dracula. Through its evocative storytelling, this chilling film delves deep into the themes of survival, human nature, and the terror that can lurk in the shadows. With an exceptional ensemble cast that includes Tilda Swinton as the enigmatic captain, and Tom Hardy as the tormented first mate, the performances add depth to the characters and intensify the sense of impending doom. Fincher's expert direction keeps audiences on the edge of their seats as the Demeter hurtles towards its dreadful fate, leaving them captivated by the harrowing tale of this cursed voyage.

More on BOTTOMS (2023):

“Bottoms” takes the idea of the teens-want-to-lose-their-virginity plot to new vistas by making the two scheming high-schooler’s lesbian outcasts. Directed by Emma Silgman with a script by her and co-lead Rachel Sennott, the two horny teens seek to capture their possibly not-queer love interests by starting a female fight club in the guise of a women’s self defense group.

With a wild mix of heartfelt realism, over-the top satire, and unexpected violent brutality involving fists, swords, and car bombs, Silgman’s film feels true to feelings, funny, and a much-needed twist on the oversaturated and male-dominated world of teen comedies.

More on TALK TO ME (2023):

”Talk to Me” follows down-and-out teen Mia as she seeks to connect with her dead mother through the use of a teen-group’s ceramic hand that allows users to see, hear, and become possessed by dead people’s spirits.

Things (of course) go wrong, and Mia is cast out by her chosen family and made to suffer the cruelty of the dead in a plot heavily borrowing from films like “The Others,” “Pulse,” and entries into the “Insidious” franchise.
