Set in 1987, the flick follows Bumblebee, who takes the form of a yellow Volkswagen Beetle, as he escapes from Cybertron and lands on Earth. There, he befriends a teenage girl named Charlie (Steinfeld), who is struggling to find her place in the world after the death of her father. As Bumblebee and Charlie form a bond, they are pursued by the government agency Sector 7, led by Agent Burns (Cena), who believes that all extraterrestrial life is a threat to national security.
